B.L.A.C.K.@Eastridge

Our Mission

B.L.A.C.K.@Eastridge is a resource group formed to create space for employee-owners that identify as Black, in addition to providing a neutral and educational space for our allies. We as Black leadership will stand strong while supporting advocacy in our community and our cultural values. Our commitment is to strengthen ourselves and each other on a professional and personal level. As we gain knowledge and understanding, B.L.A.C.K.@Eastridge is a sacred space for our Black employee-owners to meet and discuss issues within the Black community. Our goal is to create Black Leadership, Advocacy, Commitment, and Knowledge with this group to assist our community both internally and externally.

B.L.A.C.K.@Eastridge is led by Vina Richards, Corporate Administrator, and Kierra Johnson, Account Manager, with guidance and back-end operational support from Nicole D. Ford, Strategic Delivery Manager.

Our History

B.L.A.C.K.@Eastridge was birthed in April 2022 as an idea from one of our Black employee-owners, who noticed that while we had a group called “C4” (Creating Conversations and Committing to Change), the mission of the group didn’t specifically and unapologetically address the needs of our Black employee-owners.

B.L.A.C.K.@Eastridge is an expanded version of that original group with more emphasis on addressing the needs and challenges of our Black employee-owners. We needed a sacred space to process what is going on not only at Eastridge but also in the world as racially-motivated violence continues, in addition to a neutral space for ally education.

Job Fairs

We attend job fairs year-round with a focus on sourcing Black candidates, especially those who may be struggling to find work. We also provide support for youth that are exiting foster care as well as formerly-incarcerated Black women with interview and resume preparation.

Building Our Future

The future is bright for B.L.A.C.K.@Eastridge. From our first meeting, members have been excited to simply get to know one another. Many of us worked in different locations or had not yet crossed paths at Eastridge. This sacred safe space gives us all a chance to let our hair down and share our unique stories and experiences.

In the future, we have plans to host guest speakers on topics relevant to the Black community and other communities such as Latinx, LGBTQ+, and others. We also have plans to develop an educational resource library that will continually be updated for allies and members to learn more about the issues and challenges unique to our Black employee-owners.

We look forward to continuing to establish mentorship relationships, training, support, and career development for one another, in addition to our invaluable friendships. We will continue our partnership with the DE&I task force to increase the number of Black professionals at Eastridge in all roles, especially leadership.
